Douglas B aim to build on last week’s shock

After beating the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield holders and leaders, Douglas B make the trip down to Ramsey this Saturday to take on a Ramsey B side which will be hurting a little after getting something of a drubbing at Vagabonds last Saturday.

Both of these sides have a nice mixture of youth and experience.

Douglas were pretty good two weeks ago at Castletown where they went down 15-0 but came back strongly to win.

That depth of character will be needed to beat a Ramsey side who ran Southern Nomads quite tight themselves.

Conor Cracknell and Kyle Kenyon are two exciting back row prospects and their scrap with the “very experienced” Paul Gale will be part of their rugby education.

I think Douglas should just take this one though.

At Poulsom Park there is a Southern derby where Southern Nomads visit Castletown.

Both will have something to prove after they both had disappointing results against Douglas.

Town snatched defeat from the jaws of victory a fortnight ago and Luke Purdy will want his team to perform for the full eighty this time round.

Nomads I understand weren’t quite at full strength last time and there may be a backlash for Town to deal with.

In the final game of the weekend, Emerging Nomads take on Vagabonds B at King Williams College.

I suspect Vagas won’t be quite as strong as they were last week, which may give Nomads a glimmer of hope, and this may be all they need.

Fixtures:

Vagabonds v Sefton @ Ballafletcher.
Douglas v Southport @ Port-e-Chee.
