TOTAL in the Isle of Man has been rebranded to Ellan Vannin Fuels following the sale of Total UK assets.
DCC Plc – a leading oil and LPG sales, marketing and distribution business in Britain and Ireland – completed the sale yesterday (Tuesday).
A statement from DCC said: "DCC plc, the sales, marketing, distribution and business support services group, has completed the acquisition of certain oil distribution assets previously owned by Total in Britain, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands from Rontec Investments LLP (Rontec) following the completion by Rontec of a larger transaction including these assets with Total."
DCC also owns CPL Petroleum which already operates in the Isle of Man as well as oil distribution businesses in Denmark and Austria.
Ellan Vannin Fuels has said the sale will allow the company to focus more on the "specific needs of the Island" but with the support of a multi-national business.
Phill Downs, the Isle of Man director and general manager of Ellan Vannin Fuels, said: "This is very positive news for the Island.
"Customers will not notice any immediate change apart from our new name and brand and we will be able to focus on providing the quality products and services they require.
"DCC's energy businesses are customer focused and I am convinced there is much we can learn from each other. The whole team is looking forward to working with this impressive group."
A number of forecourts in the Isle of Man will continue to trade under the Total brand but Mr Downs declined to say why this was and which ones these would be. He would also not be drawn on when the company plans to roll out the new branding in the Island.
