A member of the Liberal Vannin Party is questioning the figures the chief minister is using to justify why the Isle of Man still doesn't have Freedom of Information legislation.
South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft asked Allan Bell when the act would be introduced, in the House of Keys yesterday (Tuesday).
Allan Bell said it was important not to rush into anything without a proper assessment of exactly what it would entail.
Mr Bell told MHKs the Council of Ministers would be looking at it this week, and said the chief secretary's office had been asked to work out exactly how much it would cost.
He referred to the experience in Jersey, where enacting the legislation cost ?4 million, with a further ?1 million needed for annual running costs.
But Mrs Beecroft says those figures don't add up when compared to initial estimates for the Isle of Man:
