A former bishop of the Isle of Man left his position as Dean of St Paul's Cathedral this afternoon (Monday), saying it had become 'untenable'.
The Right Reverend Graeme Knowles announced he was resigning with immediate effect, citing the row over the Occupy London site, outside the famous building, as the reason.
He is the third senior cleric to go as a direct result of the anti-capitalist demonstrations, following the resignations of the cathedral's canon chancellor Giles Fraser and chaplain Fraser Dyer last week.
Manx Radio's religious affairs correspondent Judith Ley served on a number of diocesan committees under Graeme Knowles during his time on the Island.
She says an offer for mediation between the protestors and the cathedral had been turned down:
