THE latest news and fixtures from the Isle of Man Squash Rackets' Association:
The latest junior squash grading competition was held at the NSC on October 23.
Rebecca Keeley was in commanding form in group six winning all five of her matches and only conceding 15 points.
Closest to Rebecca was newcomer Charles Kinrade who won four matches to come second ahead of Rania Gomaa.
Group five was a very closely contested group with three players - Mark Arrowsmith, Harab Khan and Oliver Wait - winning four matches out of five.
Harab beat Mark but lost to Oliver who in turn lost to Mark. Harab eventually came first by virtue of scoring the most points in the match he lost. Mark was second and Oliver third.
A special mention goes to Jack Rowlands, who competed well after moving up a grade so that the numbers between groups five and six were evened out.
Group four had eight players and was again very keenly contested with only 13 points covering first to fifth.
Matthew Naylor came out on top winning six of his seven matches - Liam Townsend being the only player to beat Matthew.
Peter and Calum Baker both won five matches. Calum narrowly beat his older brother but lost to Lewis Bridson who lost to Peter. Peter eventually came second by two points from Calum with Lewis two points further back and Liam just four points behind Lewis.
The top three groups all played matches to the best of five games.
There were some marathon's here with Ben Peach beating Harry Douthwaite 3-2 in group three. Scott Jones then took advantage by beat both Ben and Harry 3-0.
In group two the marathon was the last match between brothers Edward and Sidney Batty. Sidney came back from 2-0 down but on the day Edward was not to be denied and won 3-2.
Group one was similar to group three. Oscar Hill and Peter Naylor, competing for the third time this season, played the match of the tournament.
Peter went 2-1 up and had match points in the fourth before Oscar eventually took it 17-15. Oscar also won a close fifth game to win 3-2.
Home for half-term Juan Churcher was looking on amused at his two opponents exhausting themselves. After a break Juan beat Peter 3-1 and Oscar 3-0.
Trophies were presented by squash junior development officer Carl Albrigt.
