Manx software developer Canonical has signed a deal that will see it team up with PC manufacturing giant Dell to target the Chinese market.
Canonical says the deal will mean its Ubuntu operating system will be preloaded onto consumer PCs in China through Dell’s 220 retail stores in the country.
The partnership will mean Canonical’s version of Linux will go head to head with Microsoft Windows in the world’s largest PC market.
It also reflects a deal which saw Dell put Ubuntu onto PCs sold in the UK, France and Germany four years ago.
