Mr Cregeen will become Chairman of the Water and Sewerage Authority - subject to Tynwald approval - and retains responsibility for the operations division of the DoI.

Mr Callister, who is currently responsible for the harbour's division, will take on the expanded remit for the airport division.

Mr Ronan will be responsible for local authorities while Mr Quayle has been invited to undertake the role of chairman of the planning committee and he will have responsibility for the department's planning and building control division.

Mr Cretney will have political responsibility for the highways and properties portfolio.

He said: "I believe I have in place a first class team to help me oversee the essential activities of the department which touches so many different aspects of Island life."
