New home needed for CHAT bus

by isleofman.com 28th October 2011

AGE Concern Isle of Man needs a new home for its CHAT bus.

CHAT stands for Community, Help, Advice and Training and the vehicle was launched in April 2010.

Since that time Protours Isle of Man has provided secure parking for the vehicle but as the company is due to close at the end of the year the bus will have to be based in a new location.

Age Concern Isle of Man chief executive George Quayle said: "We have been indebted to Protours' support of the CHAT bus from day one.

"The company not only generously provided the vehicle at a heavily discounted price, but also agreed to garage it free of charge and maintain it at cost.

"We are therefore saddened that economic circumstances dictate that Protours cease trading at the end of 2011 and we will always value the outstanding contribution the company made in helping Age Concern reach out to communities across the Island.

"We are now seeking offers of an alternative secure parking space with access to electricity for charging the vehicle’s batteries in order that the CHAT bus may be able to continue serving its many valuable roles in the community."

Anyone who can help should contact Age Concern Isle of Man, 19 Drinkwater Street, Douglas, ring 631740 or email margaret.patrick@ageconcerniom.com
