Political member for health stays put

by isleofman.com 26th October 2011

IT looks as though the political member for the Department of Health in the Isle of Man is staying put.

Dudley Butt MLC announced on Twitter yesterday (Tuesday) that the Island's Chief Minister has reassigned him the position.

He tweeted: "Just had the call. I am staying in health – hope to have more time to devote to it because there is lots to do. No news of other moves yet."

Earlier that day Mr Butt, who has held the position in the department since 2010, had tweeted: "Had my personal meeting yesterday with Chief Minister re future of govt and my role in it. Gave him my views now waiting for which dept I get.

"I asked to stay in health and in education – big challenges in both but staff committed and professional which makes work more worthwhile."

Following his appointment as the Island's Chief Minister Allan Bell MHK said he would like to create a "government of all the talents" by drawing on the best available talent within the House of Keys and Legislative Council.

No other announcements on who the Chief Minister has chosen to take up political membership in the nine government departments have been made.
