MEMBERS of the public have a "unique opportunity" to take part in the Isle of Man's highest indoor abseil.
The Children's Centre is running a Dare to Live charity abseil challenge – a 60 foot abseil from the top floor of the Strand Centre in Douglas.
The free fall abseil uses a technique similar to that used by SAS units when being deployed by helicopter.
Mark Eastham, fundraising co-ordinator for The Children's Centre, said: "This is a unique opportunity to take part in the Island's highest indoor abseil.
"It is a free fall abseil meaning participants abseil down a rope without a wall which makes it more scary and a bit faster than normal abseiling."
Last year The Children's Centre organised a charity abseil from the top of the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) building in Douglas.
Mark continued: "We are hoping that some of the 90 participants who took part in the abseil from the RBS building will return - but it's also a great chance for anyone to have a go at abseiling for the first time."
The Dare to Live challenge will take place on Saturday, November 5, November 5 under the expert guidance from The Children's Centre's Mobex team.
There is no age limit for those people who want to take part but anyone under the age of 16 will need parental consent.
Participants must pay a £30 deposit and must raise a minimum of £100 (the £30 included) which will be donated to The Children’s Centre.
For more information telephone Mark on 01624 631917 or e-mail markeastham@thechildrenscentre.org.im. Entry forms are also available at the Strand Shopping Centre.
