MANX cycling star Mark Cavendish has said announcing he is going to be a father is his "proudest moment of the year".
The cyclist, who has recently moved to Team Sky, announced the news via Twitter on Saturday.
He tweeted: "I'm happy to announce, beyond doubt, my proudest moment of this year @petatodd is pregnant. I'm going to be a daddy."
His girlfriend of almost a year Peta Todd also tweeted: "Can now confirm that whether or not the world is ready for it…there is a baby @MarkCavendish on the way. A very happy family this end."
Peta, a former Page 3 model, told The Sun newspaper that she was four months pregnant meaning the baby had been conceived during the Tour de France in July – the event where Mark Cavendish became the first British cyclist to win the Green Jersey.
She also revealed that the couple had not found out the babies sex but said she thinks it is a boy while Mark thinks it is a girl.
