'MLCs could have represented Island at conferences'

by isleofman.com 24th October 2011

Senior politicians from the Isle of Man may have stayed away from the United Kingdom's party conferences this autumn because they were too busy on the campaign trail here.

That's the view of Legislative Council member Eddie Lowey, who has tabled a question on the matter for the sitting of the council tomorrow (Tuesday).

In previous years 'top guns' from the Manx government have attended the Tory and Labour conferences to forge contacts with senior UK politicians, but Mr Lowey says this year the Island sent two senior civil servants instead.

He recognises MHKs may have been too busy to attend, but is asking why MLCs weren't asked to go instead?:
