THE Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading has issued warnings to the public about two products with potential faults which may have been purchased on the Island.
In a statement issued yesterday the government said that a problem has been discovered with the bolts in Mothercare swinging cribs and gliding cribs, bought between September last year and May this year.
The batch codes for the swing cribs are NO289 and NO290 and the codes for the gliding cribs are NO291 and NO292. The affected batches are dated between September 1st 2010 and May 31st 2011.
The OFT advises that owners should stop using the cribs immediately and make alternative sleeping arrangements for babies. Mothercare should also be informed. The company has offered to replace the item free of charge.
The other OFT warning refers to a potential overheating problem with Sony Bravia LCD televisions bought any time after June 2007. A safety problem has been discovered which can lead to the set catching fire or the casing to melt.
The model numbers, which can be found on the back of the television set or from the settings menu on the remote control handset, are KDL - 40D3400, KDL – 40D3500, KDL – 40D3550, KDL – 40D3660, KDL – 40V3000, KDL – 40W3000, KDL – 40X3000 and KDL – 40X3500.
Anyone who owns one of the TV sets is advised to switch it off immediately if anything unusual is noticed (e.g. unusual noise, unusual smell or smoke) and unplug the power cable and then contact Sony.
