THE owners of the temporary ice rink which has been brought to the Isle of Man for the last two years say it could return in the future.
Last week isleofman.com revealed that the ice skating rink would not be returning over the Christmas period.
The rink, which is co-owned by ex England rugby player Kyran Bracken, is normally located in the Villa Marina Gardens throughout December and also made an appearance in the summer last year.
David Cretney, the then Minister for Community, Culture and Leisure, said the decision not to return was "a shame" and said he believed it was taken for "commercial reasons".
However the operators of the rink have said there is a chance the skating arena will return in the future.
Scott Goodall, who co-owns the rink, explained: "We were really pleased to be able to bring the winter and summer rinks over to the Island and we would like to bring another ice rink over to the Island again in the future.
"We felt that this may be a better facility to the Island if we looked at a bi-annual event.
"Logistically it is a huge job to bring everything required and to then set it all up so we are now doing maintenance on our rinks and hoping in 2012 we can once more provide an ice rink to the Island."
