ENGINEERS from Manx Gas have worked through the night in Lonan after gas supplies in the area failed.
At around 10.15pm last night (Thursday) the mains gas supply stopped due to a problem at a gas storage site.
96 homes were affected by the outage for which Manx Gas has apologised.
Robert Gardner, director and engineering manager for Manx Gas, said: "The problem has been rectified and supplies have been restored to the mains.
"However in order to ensure a safe restoration of supplies to all of the houses our engineers will require access to each property.
"In order to restore gas supplies as quickly and safely as possible we would like to request the support of our customers during this process."
Engineers began access to properties at 6.30am this morning.
Mr Gardner continued: "If the house will be unoccupied then customers can call us on 644444 to arrange a convenient time to restore their gas supply or call us when they get home.
"Our staff will be on site until all property supplies have been restored. If a customer has any problems please call us on 644444."
Manx Gas has emphasised that the problems have only affected customers on mains supplies in Lonan and have not affected customers on mini bulk tank or cylinder supplies.
