Kerbside collections ending in Onchan

Onchan residents are being told recycling is a do-it-yourself job from November.

The local authority has decided not to continue with the kerbside collection of glass, plastics, tins and paper when a three-year trial project finishes at the end of this month.

Douglas Corporation and Braddan Commissioners, who were also involved in the trial, will continue, at least until next March.

Residents are being encouraged to take their recyclables to 'bring banks' around the village, but not to add to carbon emissions by making special journeys.
