Sierra Leone visitors to discuss Manx aid money

by isleofman.com 20th October 2011

TWO visitors from Sierra Leone will visit the Isle of Man next week to discuss how money donated to Christian Aid from the Isle of Man is being used.

Members of the public have the chance to meet Joseph Ndanema and Eustace Mensah at an evening event on Friday, October 28.

Joseph is the development secretary of Methodist Church Sierra Leone and is responsible for co-ordinating the church's aid work in the country.

This includes the 2009 to 2012 farming and fishing project which is supported by the Isle of Man's Overseas Aid Committee through Christian Aid.

Eustace Mensah is the livelihoods and food security officer for Christian Aid in Sierra Leone.

Phil Craine, who represents Christian Aid in the Isle of Man, said: "Joe and Eustace are committed professionals who were so helpful when our Manx group visited Sierra Leone in February and it's wonderful that they're able to come to the Island during their stay in Britain and show us how Manx aid money is being spent."

The Christian Aid event will take place on Friday, October 28, at 7.30pm at Kirk Braddan church hall. Admission is free but people are invited to bring some food to share with others.

The event is being organised by the World Development Committee of Churches Alive in Man. For more information contact Phil on 01624 672224.
