G4S PLC has announced the planned acquisition of one of the world's largest facilities services providers.

It plans to acquire ISS A/S with a view to creating the world leading security and facilities services group.

ISS employs more than 535,000 people based in 60 countries across Europe, South America, Asia, North America and Australia.

Last year the company had revenues of approximately £8.5 billion.

G4S currently employs more than 650,000 globally and is the world's largest security company. G4S Isle of Man employs 200 staff.

When merged the two businesses will have combined revenues of £16 billion and a global workforce of 1.2 million staff.

Stuart McCudden, the managing director of G4S Isle of Man, said: "The combination of G4S and ISS will be very positive for our customers as it will enable us to deliver a broader service offering and meet the needs of customers who are looking for a single organisation to provide a broad range of integrated facilities services.

"Looking to the future we are excited by the opportunities this combination offers in terms of benefits for our customers - it brings together the world's leading security experts with one of the global leaders in integrated facilities services."
