THE Liberal Vannin Party has offered its support to the Isle of Man government in its decision to abolish the ARI taxation system.
The announcement appears to mark the beginning of a new era of co-operation between political parties and the government.
In a statement issued this morning, the party said it was “committed to equity in all matters” and added, “Mr Bell asked for our support and the Treasury and business community have given their approval . . we have accepted their advice in good faith and support the government and the business sector in our joint missions of safeguarding jobs and services for the people of the Isle of Man.”
LVP?has also welcomed Chief Minister Allan Bell’s comments in Tynwald yesterday that he had not ruled out the party’s request for the setting up of a Tax Commission. Although Mr Bell did not give a firm commitment, he told Tynwald yesterday that the idea of a Tax Commission had not been ruled out.
The statement added, “The Liberal Vannin Party believes that the people of the Isle of Man, rich or poor, should share the burden of the economic woes we have inherited.”
