An inquest into the death of Onchan man Christopher James Heaney has heard he suffered multiple injuries including severe brain damage.

The 21-year-old was in a car accident near the Creg-ny-Baa on September 3, and was transferred to Liverpool for further neurological care.

He was brought back to Noble's Hospital on October 14, for end-of-life treatment, and was pronounced dead in the intensive therapy unit two days later.

Adjourning the case, while further investigations are carried out, coroner of inquests John Needham offered his condolences to Mr Heaney's family.
