Manx2.com introduces weekend service to Newcastle

by isleofman.com 18th October 2011

PEOPLE wishing to travel to Newcastle from the Isle of Man will be able to do so on a Saturday from October 29.

Manx2.com has added an extra service to its existing schedule which will depart the Island at 10.55am.

There will also be a return flight from Newcastle to the Island at 1.25pm.

Noel Hayes, the chairman of Manx2.com, said: "Our service to Newcastle has performed well throughout the summer period and we have had many requests to increase weekend frequency.

"Our new Saturday service will add capacity on the route and get passengers to the great city of Newcastle before noon.

"It will also give supporters of high-flying premiership team Newcastle United plenty of time to reach St James' Park on match days."

The flight to Newcastle takes just under an hour with prices starting from £49.95 each way.

Chris Sanders, aviation development director at Newcastle Airport, said: "We are delighted at the addition of this Saturday flight making travel even easier between here and the Isle of Man.

"We expect the extra flight to be very popular with leisure travellers enjoying a short break in the north east - perhaps coming across for shopping, to watch football or travel further beyond.

"From here the Isle of Man makes for an interesting short break destination which is now even easier to reach with Manx2's low cost flights."
