A 21 YEAR old man from Onchan has died from his injuries following a road traffic accident in September.

Christopher James Heaney was seriously injured after the car he was driving – a green Ford Scorpio – crashed at 12.55am on September 3.

The car crashed at the junction with the Creg-ny-Baa back road and the TT Course and a police investigation into the incident is still underway.

Christopher, and a female who was travelling in the car, were initially treated at Noble's Hospital.

He was then flown to Walton Neurological Hospital for further treatment and a number of medical procedures but sadly died at Noble's Hospital yesterday (Sunday) after being repatriated to the Island last week.

Eileen Heaney, Christopher's mum, has thanked the emergency services and the members of the public who stopped at the scene of the accident.

She added: "I can't believe how kind everyone has been and the amount of help given to Chris and myself. Chris loved cars and his job as a valet and will be missed by all his friends and family."

The female occupant of the car is said to be making a good recovery from her injuries.

A Facebook group called "Chris Heaney Appreciation" has been set up in Christopher's memory and friends have been posting their messages of condolence online.
