A MAN was treated for smoke inhalation last night following a flat fire in Ballasalla.
Fire crews were called to the blaze at 9.09pm which had been started by an unattended chip pan.
Two teams of firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the flat – one team to fight the fire using two high pressure hose lines and one to carry out a search and rescue.
The casualty was located and removed from the flat where he was treated at the scene by paramedics for the effects of smoke inhalation.
Fire crews remained in attendance at the scene clearing smoke and checking the property before leaving at approximately 10.10pm.
