Resurfacing work to start on busy Douglas road

by isleofman.com 15th October 2011

RESURFACING work between Shoprite on Victoria Road in Douglas and Glencrutchery Road will start on Monday.

The Department of Infrastructure has said the work will include the removal of the old asphalt surface, sub-surface defect correction and the lifting of ironwork.

It follows recent works to refurbish the footways and stabilise the concrete road slab structures in the area.

Traffic lights will be in place during working hours and night time closures until October 21.

Weekend closures are also scheduled for October 22 and 23 and October 29 and 30. These will be in place from 6am on the Saturday morning to 6pm on the Sunday evening.

Both of the weekend closures, which are weather dependent, are needed to allow the final road surface to be laid and to enable the new road markings to be drawn.

Access to the area for residents will be limited during the duration of the works.

The Department of Infrastructure has thanked the public and local businesses for their patience and cooperation.
