Subtitled screenings to start at Broadway Cinema

by isleofman.com 13th October 2011

THE Broadway Cinema at the Villa Marina in Douglas will have its first subtitled screening during Disability Awareness Week.

A special screening of the Three Musketeers will be show on Saturday, November 5 at 5pm.

However this subtitled screening will not be in 3D - unlike the other showings of the film - as there is no 3D subtitled option for it.

It will be shown in high definition 2D instead.

Community, Culture and Leisure Minister David Cretney MHK said: "The department is committed to improving access to leisure services to everyone in the Isle of Man.

"Providing subtitled screenings at the Broadway Cinema is the latest addition designed to enhance the enjoyment of going to the cinema for people with disabilities."

Subtitled screenings will become a regular feature of the Broadway Cinema schedule.

The cinema also has a state of the art loop induction system for people wearing hearing aids and audio description is available for all screenings.

There is also a dedicated seating area for people using wheelchairs.

Disability Awareness Week takes place from October 31 to November 5.
