THERE are less than two weeks until the Isle of Man version of the popular board game Monopoly is released.
A total of 22 lsland landmarks will replace the famous London streets on the new board when it is unveiled on Wednesday, October 26.
A spokesperson for game maker Winning Moves UK said: "We've been extremely lucky with this particular board – the Island is so blessed with wonderful landmarks to fill it.
"It has been a wonderful several months consulting with the great and greater Island public and we are sure the board will prove very popular and hit the spot.
"Often when we do a regional edition there are only two or three potential landmarks to take the top Mayfair spot. Here there were at least five! The Island is blessed with true treasures.
"We have been told it could prove the perfect family Christmas present and have had advance inquiries from all over the world including many ex-pats living in some far flung places."
The full line up of the board has been kept a secret but it has been revealed that Noble's Park will take the Old Kent Road spot on the board.
Old Kent Road is the most moderately priced property for sale costing M60.
Mark Hauser, licensing director of Winning Moves UK, said: "Old Kent Road is an extremely des res location.
"We took many soundings from the public some of whom said they'd hate to see any development on it.
"They said it's a park of wonderful natural beauty and steeped in history and should stay that way.
"Since it yields the lowest return on the Monopoly board there is less chance of that happening than say on most of the board's other leading lights like Trafalgar Square and Mayfair.
"Old Kent Road is one of our most talked about sites and we are very proud of it.
"Only a very few select places and landmarks were considered for it. As far as we are concerned it is the most high profile position after Mayfair which is at the other end of the board."
It is not yet known which Island landmark will take the place of Mayfair although it will be either Fairy Bridge, Laxey Wheel, Peel Castle, the TT Grandstand or Tynwald Hill.
Monopoly Isle of Man will be on sale on Wednesday, October 26, through Amazon, HMV, Play, Shop Direct, Tesco, Waterstones, WH Smith and toy and book stores.
