Unemployment rises above two per cent

UNEMPLOYMENT in the Isle of Man rose to above two per cent during September.

 

Figures show that there were 890 people out of work in the Island – a rate of 2.1 per cent.

 

During the month 308 signed on and 248 signed off – a net increase of 60.

 

Of the total number of unemployed 637 were male and 253 were female.

 

A total of 557 vacancies were notified to the Job Centre during September and 243 positions were still vacant and held on file by the end of the month.
