Complaints about the Island’s e-gaming firms shot up by 32 per cent over the last year.

The Gambling Supervision Commission’s annual report shows there were 249 complaints over the last 12 months, compared to 188 the year before.

143 complaints were made about keeping the e-gaming industry crime-free – all but one of those were resolved.

33 people complained about protecting the young and vulnerable and 42 people had gripes about how fair the games were.

The commission says the number of complaints is very low compared to the number of players the industry has worldwide.

It suggests the reasons behind this year’s rise are there are more players and companies than ever before, and the industry has very strict rules to counter fraud and money-laundering.

The report also shows the commission made ?500,000 last year because of increased application and licensing fees and a slight drop in costs.

The report is due to go before Tynwald next week.
