by isleofman.com 12th October 2011

A 30-year-old man has appeared in court charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent after an incident in Castletown.

Mathew Smith-Williams of Malew Street, Castletown, appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes.

The charges relate to an attack on Robert Lee Quinney on October 5 in the town centre. Mr Quinney remains in Walton Hospital in Liverpool with serious head injuries.

Mr Smith-Williams’ advocate Jim Travers applied for bail but after hearing objections from the prosecution’s Justin Bullace, Mrs Hughes remanded him in custody.

He’ll appear in court again on November 8.
