Manx wind farm deal

by isleofman.com 11th October 2011

One of the world’s biggest suppliers of wind turbines is teaming up with a Manx company to build wind farms in India.

General Electric says it’s entering the country’s renewable energy market for the first time with Greenko Group.

GE Energy Financial Services will invest $50 million and Greenko $65 million as the partnership creates enough wind farms to power 875,000 Indian homes.

The first 65-megawatt project in Maharashtra state will be completed by December.

Greenko, based in Douglas, has plans for farms in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Rajasthan states.
