THE Isle of Man should get a new Chief Minister today (Tuesday).
Ramsey MHK Allan Bell and Onchan MHK Peter Karran are going head to head for the position which will be announced during today's sitting of Tynwald.
Members of the House of Keys will be asked to vote for their preferred candidate at around 10.30am.
However if either candidate fails to gain the majority vote, due to MHKs spoiling their vote or abstaining from voting, the voting process will be restarted.
This means other MHKs will have the option of putting their name forward for the job.
In fact this is how the Island's retiring Chief Minister, Tony Brown, was elected in 2006.
Mr Brown did not put his name forward for the position in the first round of voting. However when the other candidates, John Shimmin, Steve Rodan and David Cannan, failed to secure the majority vote, he put his name forward and was elected unopposed.
Once chosen the Island's new Chief Minister will be appointed by the Lieutenant Governor Adam Wood.
