THE chairman of the Isle of Man branch of the Institute of Directors (IOD) has commended six directors from Barclays Wealth on their recent exam success.
Sally Bolton has said the results are excellent and add value to the Island's business community.
Barclays Wealth managing directors Simon Scott and Paul Savery, directors Ian Hodgkinson and David Stanley and head of corporate affairs Caroline Cornish have all passed the IOD Directors Certificate and Diploma in Company Direction. Fellow director Karl Moore has passed the IOD Certificate.
Sally said: "It is excellent that companies such as Barclays Wealth appreciate and understand the importance of having competent and capable directors and support their directors to study for the qualifications.
"Island-wide there are currently 16 chartered directors (who also hold the Diploma and Certificate), 43 directors with both the Diploma and Certificate and 15 with the Certificate. This undoubtedly also adds value to the Island's business community as a whole and is recognised and encouraged by regulators and other key stakeholders."
Simon Scott from Barclays Wealth said: "We have a number of learning and development initiatives in place for our staff and we, as directors, felt it was important for us to lead by example and expand our skills to serve the company as well as we possibly can.
"We have all enjoyed getting back into structured learning. We anticipate that these studies will help us to become a more dynamic and strategically driven board able to continue to lead Barclays Wealth to a strong future."
