ONE of the contenders in the race to become the Island's next Chief Minister has revealed his fantasy line up of government ministers.
Peter Karran, the leader of the Liberal Vannin Party, has declared who he would like to work with him should he be elected to the role.
The Onchan MHK is standing against Allan Bell, a Ramsey MHK and the current Economic Development Minister, for the position, with the result due to be announced tomorrow (Tuesday).
In advance of this decision being made Mr Karran said he had announced his preferred line up in an "open and honest manner".
He explained: "There is usually a lot of horse trading behind closed doors before voting starts. I have not approached any of those named below nor have I had any discussions with them. I believe that potential Chief Ministers should declare their preferred ministers in advance in an open and honest manner.
"No behind the scenes trading should be done and honesty and integrity should be valued. I hope that those named, and those not named, will not take offence but will accept that this is the only way to avoid being accused of horse trading."
If elected Mr Karran said he would like to see the following:
Treasury Minister – Juan Watterson
Environment, Fisheries and Agriculture – John Shimmin
Community, Culture and Leisure – Phil Gawne
Social Care – Chris Robertshaw
Education and Children – Brenda Cannell
Economic Development – Allan Bell
Infrastructure – Eddie Teare
Health – Leonard Singer
Home Affairs – Tim Crookall
Mr Karran's suggestions include no place for the current Community Culture and Leisure Minister David Cretney or Health Minister David Anderson.
The vote for Chief Minister will be taken by Members of the House of Keys at tomorrow's sitting of Tywnald. If Allan Bell or Peter Karran fails to gain the majority vote then other candidates will be able to put their names forward at a second round of voting.
Last week the two contenders published supporting statements detailing why they think they are the right man for the job. For more on this click here.
