The Isle of Man’s national band officially has a place it can call home.
The Jimmy Crosbie Memorial Bandroom was officially opened by Janice Corrin, daughter of Manx Youth Band founder Jim Crosbie, last night (Friday).
Based at the former Red Cross headquarters in Derby Road, Douglas, the new headquarters means the band, and its senior band Manx Concert Brass – under the baton of Ian Clague - have a permanent base for the first time since being established more than four decades ago.
Band president Sir Laurence New said it was an emotional occasion.
The band is hosting an open day from 2-5pm this afternoon (Saturday).
You’ll be able to look around the facility and, whether you are eight or 80, find out more about learning an instrument.
