One Hour Walk challenge to take place on Sunday

by isleofman.com 7th October 2011

NOVICE and new walkers are invited to take part in a one hour walking challenge on Sunday.

The One Hour Walk event, hosted by the Manx Harriers and sponsored by the Welbeck Hotel and Restaurant, encourages walkers to see how far they can get in one hour.

The event takes place on the athletics track at the National Sports Centre (NSC) in Douglas and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome to take part.

Novice walkers are those people who have not previously won a main prize in an open walk. Experienced walkers are however welcome to take part in the event but are excluded from the main prize list.

There will also be a number of supporting events including a half hour walk aimed at junior walkers and less confident walkers and junior mile or half mile events for younger walkers.

Refreshments and presentations will take place directly after the racing.

Anyone wishing to take part in the One Hour Walk challenge can sign on from 9.30am on Sunday. This is done at the Manx Harriers clubhouse. The event will start at 10am. Entry costs £3 for adults and £1 for children.
