Island features in financial secrecy rankings

by isleofman.com 7th October 2011

The Isle of Man has been ranked 36th in a global list of financial secrecy jurisdictions compiled by campaigner Richard Murphy.

His Tax Justice Network puts together an annual list of countries it claims facilitates crime through financial secrecy and the Island ranks between Italy and Israel.

There’s some confusion, however, – although the Island’s 36th on the list, a more detailed report puts it in 37th place and the list of reports has the Island in 33rd.

Switzerland is top of the list, while the UK comes in 13th place.
