A NUMBER of Island charities are planning to showcase the hidden gems that lie within their charity shops at a special Fashion Face Off event.
Age Concern, British Red Cross, Crossroads Caring for Carers, Hospice, Manx Mencap, MSPCA, Oxfam and Save the Children will take to the runaway on Saturday, November 26.
Art and design students from the Isle of Man College will be customising the charitable donations into outfits worth owning and the show will feature ideas for day wear, office wear, evening wear and festive party wear.
The audience will then be asked to vote for their favourite collection which will be crowned Queen of Charity Shops.
All of the outfits featured in the catwalk show will be auctioned off on the night to create funds for the participating charities.
The Cosmetic Medical Centre, GlitterMine and hairdresser Emma MacDonald will be on hand to transform all of the models and there will be performances from local dance and theatre companies. Davisons Manx Dairy Ices will provide the food and bar service.
Alex Wilson, the events co-ordinator for Crossroads Caring for Carers, said: "The show will quash the stereotype that clothes found in charity shops are not worth looking at.
"The evening will be fun packed and help several worthy local causes. Thanks must go to Isle of Man Bank, Alliance and Leicester International Limited, Barclays Wealth and Davisons for their support."
The Fashion Face Off charity fashion show will take place at the Villa Marina Arcade at 7.30pm on November 26. Tickets are priced at £10 and are available from the Villa Gaiety Box Office on 01624 600555, online at www.villagaiety.com or from the Welcome Centre in the Sea Terminal.
