Charities benefit thanks to Standard Bank

by isleofman.com 6th October 2011

A TEAM from Standard Bank Isle of Man has completed the annual ClubMANN Classic cycling challenge and raised over £800, matched by a donation from the bank, for two organisations.

The Diana Princess of Wales Care at Home Trust and the Isle of Man Badminton Association will both benefit equally from the team’s efforts.

The seven members of staff who made up the Standard Bank relay team were Richard Randle, Nick Firth, David Nash, Clive Walsh, Chris Till, Bob Borland, Pete Hartley and supported by Chris Smethurst.

Despite poor weather conditions on some parts of the course the team completed the TT mountain course in two hours and 21 minutes, to beat their previous time by four minutes. The event, which is sponsored by Shoprite, has been organised annually for the past 20 years and 2011 was the third consecutive year that the Standard Bank team took part.

John Coyle, chief executive of Standard Bank Isle of Man, said, “We congratulate the team on this achievement and for doing their part to raise vital funds for two very worthy local causes.

“This is a great event which not only gets the local community to work together for a good cause, but also encourages participants to invest in their own fitness and wellbeing.”

He added, “Standard Bank supports the communities in which it operates and we are proud of our staff in the island who are happy to get involved in events like this and give something back on our behalf.”
