LOCAL artists will share their knowledge and skills with the public as part of a month long art festival.
The Big Draw will take place between Saturday, October 8, and Monday, October 31, and will be hosted at the Family Library in Douglas.
The art festival is designed to introduce the public to art and encourages people to have a go at creating their own masterpieces.
Mary Cousins, librarian at the Family Library, explained: "It's the third year we've taken part in The Big Draw and we think our events are bigger and better than before with some talented local artists taking part."
Artists involved include Krista Magee who is hosting an animation workshop, Juan Moore who will be painting live and giving a lecture and a zombie and monster workshop with Juan and illustrators Thomas Egan and Rachael Ansell.
Juan said: "I think it's great for the public to get to see the process behind creating an artwork. I'm fortunate in that I work quickly compared to most artists. If I can't do it in a day I normally don't bother.
"Painting can be a very personal thing which is why few artists are prepared to paint in public. For me art is about the process, not necessarily the end result, so if I can share with people what it get out of what I do for a living that makes it all worthwhile.
"It is my hope that it will inspire others to pick up a paintbrush or a pencil and get cracking with some art of their own."
The Big Animation 2 workshop will take place between Tuesday, October 25, and Thursday, October 27. Sessions take place from 10am to 2pm and cost £10.
The live painting and lecture session will take place on Thursday, October 27, and costs £1 to attend. All proceeds will be donated to Children in Need.
The zombie and monsters workshop take place on Friday, October 28, with sessions at 11am to 1pm and 1.30pm to 3.30pm. There will also be a session on Saturday, October 29, from 1pm to 3pm. It costs £5 to attend.
There will also be a number of free Big Drawing sessions from 10.30am to 12.30pm each Saturday during the month. Subjects include family trees, still life and Hop-tu-Naa.
