by isleofman.com 4th October 2011

The new House of Keys has been sworn in this morning.

All 24 members sat at 11.30am for the important ceremony where they swear allegiance to the Queen.

Manx Radio's James Davis watched proceedings and says it was a packed house for what is a proud day for all of the politicians - both new and old (play audio clip)

The new House will decide on a Speaker at 2.30pm, with Garff MHK Steve Rodan widely expected to be re-elected to the position.

Chief Minister nominations have to be in by 5pm.

Only two names are currently expected to be put forward - economic development minister Allan Bell, and Leader of the Liberal Vannin Party Peter Karran.

The House will vote to choose the next chief minister a week today.
