No change for Douglas West

by isleofman.com 29th September 2011

THERE will be no change for constituents of Douglas West following tonight's General Election result.

Voters have voted for John Shimmin and Geoff Corkish to retain their seats in the House of Keys for another term.

John Shimmin topped the polls with 1316 votes slightly ahead of Geoff Corkish who polled 1117.

Speaking immediately after the result John Shimmin said he was "absolutely delighted with the result".

He said: "It's been an amazing turnout. It's been a very well fought battle – a very gentlemanly one. I really will try and earn their support and justify this result in the next five years."

Geoff Corkish added: "I will work as hard as I possibly can for the constituency and the Isle of Man in general. I pledge my support to Douglas West and the Isle of Man."
