The shock news from the exit polls - newcomer Geoffrey Boot has overcome David Anderson in Glenfaba. Our polls give Mr Boot 44 per cent of the vote, to Mr Anderson's 37 per cent.

The other ministerial scalp appears to be that of Martyn Quayle in Middle - our polls show the social care minister has lost the seat to Howard Quayle by a large margin, Howard Quayle polling 56 per cent, more than double Martyn Quayle's showing.

There are two new faces elsewhere according to our polls, including a breakthrough by Liberal Vannin in South Douglas. If our polls are correct one of those seats has been won by Kate Beecroft. David Cretney tops the poll with Mrs Beecroft just three percentage points ahead of Bill Malakey.

A close fight in Rushen, where three seats are up for grabs, appears to have brought victory for challenger Laurence Skelly at the expense of Quintin Gill.

Juan Watterson tops our Rushen exit poll, with Phil Gawne and Mr Skelly neck and neck in second and third places.
