Tribute to musician who inspired generations

The life and work of Alan Pickard was celebrated at the Villa Marina last night (Wednesday).

The Royal Hall played host to the gathering as groups which he founded and/or conducted joined forces to pay tribute to his lifelong service to music.

Lieutenant Governor Adam Wood and outgoing Chief Minister Tony Brown were among the guests at the concert, in which all four of Alan's children and his wife Avril performed.

Among the returning soloists was Christine Teare, who said whether playing, examining or teaching, he made an immeasurable contribution to Island life (listen to extended audio file):
