McGuinness and Rea unveil new Honda Fireblade

by isleofman.com 27th September 2011

TT legend John McGuinness and World Superbike star Jonathan Rea unveiled the 20th anniversary Honda Fireblade at the circuits where they competed last weekend.

McGuinness took the covers off the 2012 bike in Le Mans, France, while Jonathan, who lives in Castletown, did the same at Imola in Italy.

McGuinness has won several TTs on Honda Fireblades - and competes on the machine in the Endurance World Championship - while Jonathan Rea races the machine in the World Superbike championship.

The 2012 bike will be on display at the EICMA show in Milan in November.

John McGuinness said: "I've got a real soft spot for the Fireblade. I've ridden it in many different racing events over the years and had a lot of success with it.

"In fact some of the most memorable moments of my career have been on the Fireblade - from TT wins to this year in the World Endurance Championship.

"Unveiling the new model here at Le Mans is pretty exciting and I'm honoured that I was chosen to do it.

"It's great that all the thousands of racing and Fireblade fans around the world will now have the chance to see it for real."

The bike was unveiled on Friday night.
