RUSHEN is in the south of the Island and is made up of the parishes of Rushen and Arbory and the villages of Port Erin and Port St Mary.
The constituency has 6199 constituents and three seats.
Six candidates are standing for election in Rushen. They are Quintin Gill, Phil Gawne, David Jones, John Orme, Laurence Skelly and Juan Watterson.
Here is a closer look at the candidates:
Quintin Gill – Sitting Member
Sitting Member Quintin Gill is standing for re-election in Rushen as an independent candidate.
He was elected in 2001 and is currently the chairman of the Isle of Man Art's Council.
During his political career he has served as a political member for the Department's of Trade and Industry and has been the chairman of the Office of Fair Trading. He is also the deputy speaker of the House of Keys.
Speaking about standing for re-election he said: "I want to use my decade of experience as a full-time MHK to work as part of a parliamentary team to fully consider and address the pressing challenges the next administration will inherit."
On a national level his priorities include the relationship with the UK Government and the economy. At constituency level his priorities include regeneration schemes for Port Erin and Port St Mary and housing.
Phil Gawne – Sitting Member
Sitting Member Phil Gawne is standing for re-election in Rushen as an independent candidate.
He was elected in 2003 and is the current Minister for the Department of Infrastructure. He has also served as Minister of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
Speaking about standing for re-election he said: "In considering the significant economic and political challenges ahead it is vital that our distinctive political independence, our history, culture and beautiful environment are maintained and that our Island remains a wonderful place to live."
On a national level his priorities include the economy, immigration, greater independence for the Island and a review on air and sea travel. At constituency level his priorities include bus services, redevelopment of the Marine Laboratory site, housing, access to nursery education and road improvements.
David Jones – Challenger
David Jones is standing for election in Rushen as a Liberal Vannin Party candidate.
The engineer and businessman lives in Baldrine and speaking about his reason for standing for election said: "I have decided to stand in this election because I am concerned about the incompetent decisions of the present government which have set the Island on a course towards insolvency."
The Liberal Vannin Party's priorities include the Freedom of Information Act, the economy, health and social care and a military covenant.
John Orme – Challenger
John Orme is standing for election in Rushen as an independent candidate.
He has represented Rushen before as an MHK from 1986 to 1991 and since 1995 has been a barrister.
Speaking about standing for election John said: "If elected I propose to only serve one term so I will be free to take decisions which I believe to be in the long term interests of the Isle of Man without having an eye upon my future political prospects. If these decisions make me unpopular so be it."
On a national level his priorities include taxation, a smaller government, greater financial independence for the Isle of Man.
Laurence Skelly – Challenger
Laurence Skelly is standing for election in Rushen as an independent candidate.
The businessman says he is standing for election because he said: "Rushen needs better representation and I believe I have valuable business experience, ability and vision to help the Island ride this economic storm and build a brighter future for us all."
On a national level his priorities include the economy, international relations and elderly people. At a constituency level his priorities include housing, a Marine and Heritage Centre for Port St Mary, bus services and a campsite and motorhome area in Rushen.
Juan Watterson – Sitting Member
Sitting Member Juan Watterson is standing for re-election in Rushen as an independent candidate.
He has represented Rushen since 2006 and is currently a Political Member for the Department of Economic Development.
Speaking about standing for re-election he said: "I will continue to work for people of Rushen and the Island with the same honesty, enthusiasm and commitment that I believe has characterised my work over the last five years."
On a national level his priorities include public finances, the economy, immigration, environment and pensioners. At constituency level his priorities include housing, buses, recreational activities for the youth.
