MICHAEL is one of two constituencies that is guaranteed to get a new MHK following David Cannan's retirement from politics.
The constituency has 2180 constituents and one seat and is made up of Michael, Ballaugh and Jurby.
Three candidates are standing for election in Michael. They are Alfred Cannan, Paul Heavey and David Talbot.
Here is a closer look at the candidates:
Alfred Cannan – Challenger
Alfred Cannan, the son of former Michael MHK David Cannan, is standing for Michael as an independent candidate.
He runs a recruitment business and said he is standing for election because he can "offer the residents of the constituency of Michael the experience, acumen and ability to make a significant contribution to the future of the Island and the sheading".
On a national level his priorities include the economy, tourism, the bus service and agriculture. At constituency level his priorities include supporting local businesses, a GP surgery in Kirk Michael and encouraging community events.
Paul Heavey – Challenger
Paul Heavey is the managing director of an Island taxi firm and is standing for Michael as an independent candidate.
Speaking about his reasons for standing for election he said: "I want to make sure that people of the Isle of Man get a fair deal and an equal opportunity in business, education and welfare."
On a national level his priorities include the economy, work permits and immigration, healthcare and agriculture. At constituency level his priorities include residential development, recreation facilities and public transport.
David Talbot – Challenger
David Talbot has been a Patrick commissioner since 2008 and is standing for Michael as an independent candidate.
He said his role as commissioner had given him the "appetite to work alongside other House of Keys members to represent the interests of constituents and develop the Isle of Man politically and economically".
On a national level his priorities include the restoration of trust within politicians and the government, the government's relationship with the UK and ecological issues. At a constituency level his priorities include health and education provision, coastal protection, speed limits and waste collection.
