There were goals galore and shocks galore in the Canada Life Premier League on Saturday.

2010 league champions Rushen went goal crazy, putting 13 past Ayre.

Meanwhile, Corinthians knocked Old Boys off the top of the table and Castletown trounced St John’s 5-2 on their own turf.

At the other end of the table, Ramsey Youth Centre won at Gymns in the basement battle.

The big result of the day came at Douglas Road where a Steven Priestnal penalty and a Liam Doyle goal fired St Mary’s to a 2-1 win at Peel, for whom Daniel Lace was on target.

St Mary’s are second behind new leaders Laxey who saw off Ramsey 3-0 at Glen Road – Ashley Webster (two) and Max Murley the scorers.

With reigning champions St George’s not in action, Old Boys missed the chance to extend their lead as they went down to a surprise 2-1 defeat at Corinthians.

Blane Slattery and Kane Ridings were the scorers with Lee Ford’s goal not enough for Old Boys.

Corinthians are now fourth and Rushen fifth after a 13-2 romp against newly promoted Ayre.

Josh Kelly was the star of the show with a double hat-trick, Aaron Hawley hit four and Michael Baker, Mike Williams and Ashley Sansbury all chipped in for the home side.

Dan Fargher and Luke Rowe scored the consolations for Ayre who only trailed 3-1 at the break.

Castletown enjoyed a fine 5-2 win at St John’s, courtesy of goals from Alex Crawley (two), Mike Edge, Tom Callister and Mark Wolfenden.

A Steve Glover penalty and a Nicky Sloane goal was all St John’s had to show.

Ramsey Youth Centre are off the bottom after leapfrogging Gymns with an impressive 3-1 win at Tromode.

Sean Kelly and Jason Craine, plus an own goal, sent the northerners home with maximum points.
