MasterChef star impressed by the Island

by isleofman.com 24th September 2011

COOKERY star Stacie Stewart says she is impressed by what she has seen of the Island so far.

Stacie is one of the celebrity cooks at this year's Isle of Man Food and Drink Festival which takes place in the grounds of the Nunnery today (Saturday) and tomorrow.

Speaking to isleofman.com this morning she said the Island 'looks beautiful, everything is dead picturesque'.

Stacie, who reached the finals of MasterChef 6 and occasionally appears on ITV's This Morning, wants to see a couple of sights while she is here.

She said: "I want to see the basking sharks if I have got time and I also want to see the castle in the sea, the Tower of Refuge, as it was featured on (BBC's) Coast."

Stacie, who is from Sunderland, is a big fan of Northern Soul music and rides a Lambretta but she has not brought her beloved scooter to the Island with her.

"The aeroplane we got on was about two sizes bigger than my Lambretta. It was a small aeroplane but I wasn't expecting it to be that small," she joked.

She also revealed the dishes she will be making in the Manx food theatre.

"I have four dishes today all based around the fantastic Manx produce," she said.

They are risotto of black pudding and Manx queenie scallop with poached duck egg, Manx lobster with a thai noodle salad, Manx beef with a beetroot and horseradish puree and trifle with Manx blackberry sorbet.
