by isleofman.com 23rd September 2011

BALLASALLA couple Kath and Henry Cubbon have won a brand new Land Rover Discovery 4 in a national summer-long prize draw run by the power tool company Stihl.

Their name was the first out of 21,000 entries in the free competition, having posted their entry several months ago at Motors & Mowers in Kirk Michael - the Isle of Man’s Stihl dealership.

“It still hasn’t sunk in,” said Kath Cubbon. “When the lady phoned up and said we had won a LandRover Discovery I thought it was someone having a joke.”

Mrs Cubbon filled in the entry form on a visit to the Kirk Michael business when she arrived to have her leaf blower serviced.

The win was celebrated by all of Mrs Cubbon’s family at a party hosted by Motors & Mowers owner Barry Dawson at the showroom in Kirk Michael with champagne and a celebration Stihl cake.

Stihl GB’s marketing manager, Sean Larter-Conway, drove the £40,000 LandRover to the Isle of Man from the UK to hand over the keys to the lucky winner last week.
