Island's new Chief Minister to be appointed by Lieutenant Governor

THE Island's next Chief Minister will be elected on Tuesday, October 11.

 

In accordance with the Council of Ministers Act 1990, and the standing orders of Tywnald Court, the president of Tynwald Clare Christian will summon the court to a public meeting at 10.30am on this date.

 

The Chief Minister will then be appointed by the Island's Lieutenant Governor Adam Wood on the nomination of Tynwald.

 

Prior to this Tywnald Members must put forward their proposals for the post and deliver these, in writing, to the Clerk of Tywnald by 5pm on Tuesday, October 4.

 

That evening the nominations will be made known to Tywnald Members and then released to the media.

 

Nominees must then submit a written policy statement to the Clerk of Tynwald by 5pm on Thursday, October 16.

 

Once circulated to Tynwald members the statements will be posted on the Tywnald website – www.tynwald.org.im.
